Week 6

Project 2 was due this week. I have my website started but it is not complete. I need to add artwork and make it more attractive. Learning a new website builder is hard and takes a lot of time. I probably spent 10 hours this week uploading art work and working with my husband to get digital files of all his work. Now I need to learn how to format the pages better.

We also learned about state licenses and tax. I have registered my husband's business with the state years ago.  I need to check with the state and make sure everything is in order.

I am choosing a sole proprietorship structure for this business. My husband will be the only business owner. I will help, but I won't be a "hired employee". We don't have any risk involved where someone may come after us an sue.

I look forward to completing the website and hopefully find the time. It is hard because I have a very busy full-time job and busy church callings.

Lesson 9

This week has been difficult. We were to try and figure out our quality score. It took me forever to get to the screen that shows it. Once I figured it out, I was able to start the process. However, it didn't give me a quality score before the deadline. My suggestion for this online class would be to break this up into two weeks. Make sure the students set up their accounts a week before so the quality score will generate. We learned about google analytics. This will be a great tool for my business. I was able to set it up and can now tract the activity of the people who visit my site.

Week 13

Google Analytics My site is not doing very well. I have hardly any visitors (except for me). My adwords doesn't seem to be attracting anyone either. My next plan is to really target contacts and social media. I need to get in touch with former students and have them link to the site and also give me testimonials from the class they took and from the book. That will add a lot to my site. Woorank is an awesome tool. It has given me several ideas to improve my site. I have started making some of the improvements but it is going to take some time. I have lots of images that I need to add better descriptions on. Hopefully my score will increase.
