Week 5 - Reflections

This week we learned about credit card payments and Paypal. Most of this I have experience with and will continue to use Paypal. I did learn about Amazon Pay and will have to look further into this option since Amazon is so well known.

I started building my website. I decided to go through iPage and now I am not so sure if that was the right decision. I had to pay $81 for 3 years. This paid for the domain name and hosting. What I didn't realize is the website builder only lets me build 6 pages for free. So, I paid an additional $12.99 a month to use the website builder. Now I can have more pages. It's amazing all the hidden costs. I believe I have a 30 day money back guarantee. I will develop more of the website this week and decide if I like the builder enough to pay that much.

This week we created an ad to use in Google Adwords. I was happy with the one I created. I feel that it grabs the attention of the reader and it also has a call to action. Lesson 9

This week has been difficult. We were to try and figure out our quality score. It took me forever to get to the screen that shows it. Once I figured it out, I was able to start the process. However, it didn't give me a quality score before the deadline. My suggestion for this online class would be to break this up into two weeks. Make sure the students set up their accounts a week before so the quality score will generate. We learned about google analytics. This will be a great tool for my business. I was able to set it up and can now tract the activity of the people who visit my site.

Week 13

Google Analytics My site is not doing very well. I have hardly any visitors (except for me). My adwords doesn't seem to be attracting anyone either. My next plan is to really target contacts and social media. I need to get in touch with former students and have them link to the site and also give me testimonials from the class they took and from the book. That will add a lot to my site. Woorank is an awesome tool. It has given me several ideas to improve my site. I have started making some of the improvements but it is going to take some time. I have lots of images that I need to add better descriptions on. Hopefully my score will increase.
