Week 4 weekly Reflections

This week was a hard week. The spreadsheet we had to do took a lot of time. Luckily I started it during week 2. It helped me to learn which business ideas may do better.

I thought I had my mind made up on using Wix for a site builder. If I used Wix, I would need to use it as a host also. I learned that later in the week on we studied hosts. I didn't realize that most site builders are also hosts. I was set on using GoDaddy because I all ready have a domain name through them. I thought the price that I am paying of the domain would also cover the hosting. I was wrong. I don't really want to go through GoDaddy because I haven't had that great of experience with WordPress. I am looking for a site builder that is more "drag and drop". iPage seems to be a good option. I need to do a lot more research this weekend before I make up my mind who to go with.

I think I am going to do my husband's art business for this class. He doesn't have a website yet and he really needs one. I can sell his textbook, prints, and maybe his flies on the site. I am hoping to get it started this weekend.

Lesson 8 - Ads and Ad Groups

This week we created an ad to use in Google Adwords. I was happy with the one I created. I feel that it grabs the attention of the reader and it also has a call to action. Lesson 9

This week has been difficult. We were to try and figure out our quality score. It took me forever to get to the screen that shows it. Once I figured it out, I was able to start the process. However, it didn't give me a quality score before the deadline. My suggestion for this online class would be to break this up into two weeks. Make sure the students set up their accounts a week before so the quality score will generate. We learned about google analytics. This will be a great tool for my business. I was able to set it up and can now tract the activity of the people who visit my site.

Week 13

Google Analytics My site is not doing very well. I have hardly any visitors (except for me). My adwords doesn't seem to be attracting anyone either. My next plan is to really target contacts and social media. I need to get in touch with former students and have them link to the site and also give me testimonials from the class they took and from the book. That will add a lot to my site. Woorank is an awesome tool. It has given me several ideas to improve my site. I have started making some of the improvements but it is going to take some time. I have lots of images that I need to add better descriptions on. Hopefully my score will increase.
